This week, we were very lucky to be joined by Network Rail. You may recall that during our Science Week focused on ‘Engineering’, children across KS2 were set the challenge of building a fully-working locomotive. As part of this, St Nicholas hosted the Network Rail event which aimed to bring together several schools to showcase their locomotives. A range of awards were up for grabs, such as ‘Best Theme’. Our children at St Nicholas were certainly a credit to our school community, who shared the design, construction, and evaluation of their locomotives in an expertly-executed manner, and really impressed the Network Rail representatives! A big well done to them!
A big thank you also to Mr Piggott who has helped lead this initiative and to the staff team at St Nicholas, who have supported the facilitation of the locomotive construction – a huge team effort all around – Well done!
