This link will take you to our school's data dashboard which compares the following data sets for our school and where this would see us fit against the national picture.  You can find out summary information about attendance, test results, school demographic (context) as well as how well the school meets the needs of all learners, alleviating any variation between the achievement of disadvantaged pupils. 

This link will provide you with benchmarking information with which we evaluate our performance in all sorts of ways against our financial expenditure.  We ask ourselves questions about value for money and financial effectiveness against outcomes for our children and compare ourselves against similar schools locally and nationally.

Early Years Foundation Stage

78.3% of pupils in Reception attained a Good Level of Development against the Early Years framework. This is above the local authority average of 74.4% and the national average of 71.8%.

A Good Level of Development is defined as children working at the expected standard or exceeding the expected standard in the key areas of literacy, maths, physical development, communication and language and personal, social and emotional development.

This year’s GLD was a slight decline on previous years and this is indicative of the intake where there are three children with 1:1 provision and children with a range of S and L and PSED needs.

None of the 3 children with SEND achieved a GLD, which in percentage terms was below that found nationally.   *SEND can cover a range of needs which may not necessarily limit progress in learning within the larger national context of circa 57000 pupils.

Of the 7 FSM pupils, 57.1% achieved a GLD, which was marginally above that found nationally 56.4% and within the local authority 56.1%.

Strengths in 2018-2019 – Boys GLD is 9.7% above that of girls.    Literacy.

Weaker areas in 2018-2019 cohort – attainment of girls (girl heavy group 35 G, 25 B) of which 6/7 of the FSM were girls and 2 out of the 3 SEND pupils were girls.  Maths and Expressive Art and Design.

Year One Phonic Screening

88.3% of pupils in Year One attained the expected standard in the Phonic Screening test, this is above the local authority average of 83.8% and the national average of 81.9%.

81.3% of the 6 Pupil Premium pupils passed the screen compared with national 70.8% and local authority 71.3% and 80% of the 5 SEND pupils passed the screen compared with national 43.2% and local authority 37.6%.  

Key Stage One

At the end of KS1 (Yr2), teachers are required to assess each child in the areas of reading, writing, maths and science. National Curriculum assessment tests are used to support teachers’ judgements.

The system of national curriculum levels has been removed and the new measures are as follows:

Expected Standard – Working at the expected standard for a child at the end of Year 2

Greater Depth – Working at greater depth within the expected standard, with a strong understanding of the curriculum.

St Nicholas performance was above national and local authority in every subject area and in some by wide margins. (See table in the attachments section)
