Information about Future Allocation and Returning of Devices for Home Learning (28.02.21)
As St Nicholas will be welcoming all children back from Monday 8th March, in line with the first phase of lifting national restrictions, and as attendance will be mandatory for all (unless of course self-isolating), we ask that devices loaned to support virtual learning (as part of the Department for Education Get Help with Technology scheme) are returned. Due to having a very limited number of devices, these should be returned from Monday 8th March, so we can ensure that these are data-wiped and physically cleaned, prepared and ready for allocation, should we have any families or year group bubbles needing to self-isolate. However, we do hope that there be will be no need for these, yet at St Nicholas we aim to plan and be ready for such future eventualities!
Please send your child's loaned device back into their class bubble (if siblings, send with your oldest child), where they will be collated once the required quarantine time has passed. Please do not return these to the School Office, as to minimise the number of items coming in from different households and of course to protect our office team, who are not within a specific class bubble. Where devices are not returned, the School Office will be making contact to request their return.
We are pleased to hear that these devices have supported the continuation in learning at home; many thanks to those who have returned them early, when their use has no longer been required, such as purchasing own devices. Due to a very limited number available, we have had to provide these on a first-come-first-serve basis, however, we are expecting a delivery of a few additional devices soon, to increase our capacity.
In the eventuality of a device being needed, please complete the online form (when directed to) that can be found here - this should only be completed when your child needs to self-isolate (e.g. once we know they need to self-isolate as notified by parents/carers or we have sent a letter asking your child to self-isolate due to a year group or wider closure). Any requests made before then will not be counted to ensure fairness for all (each response is date and time stamped).
We will contact you either by text or e-mail to let you know if a device is available. If you are not contacted within 1 working day, please assume that you have been added to the waiting list, where we will contact you as soon as a device becomes available upon its return and required quarantine time.
Thank you for your continued support and co-operation and for all you have done to support your child's home learning over the last couple of months.
